I think the term 'Strategic Planning' scares many leaders. It feels BIG. Having clear goals for yourself and/or the company is a crucial component for achieving growth in a small to mid-sized business. As a CEO or strategic leader, it is essential to set clear goals and define actionable steps to reach those goals. One effective approach to strategic planning is the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). This framework allows CEOs to establish ambitious yet measurable goals that drive organizational growth. By breaking down these objectives into actionable steps, teams can focus on specific tasks that contribute to the overall strategic direction.
By setting goals, you provide your team with a clear direction and purpose. It allows everyone in the organization to understand what they are working towards and how their efforts contribute to the overall strategic plan. CLEAR IS KIND.
Regularly reviewing your progress is equally important. This is where I see many great plans FAIL. The set them and forget them. Talking about the goals AT LEAST weekly enables you to assess whether you are on track or if adjustments need to be made.
Remember that strategic planning is not a one-time process but an ongoing effort. By consistently revisiting your goals, refining your strategies, and communicating effectively with your team, you can drive mid-market growth through effective strategic leadership.
